Spike Valance Cthulhu Mythos - X'l-Tash, The Dweller in the Gulf* (Great Old One)

The Dweller in the Gulf is a hideous extraterrestrial being and appears as a massive, eyeless tortoise-like creeper, as tall as an adult man. Its head is triangular and shows a pair of whiplike tails employed as blood or lymph sucker.
The Dweller in the Gulf is said to live deep beneath the surface of the planet Mars, but may have originated elsewhere and it was worshipped exclusively by a blind, troglodyte sect - maybe even from ancient (extinct) Martian civilizations.
It is rumoured the Dweller uses the two bell-shaped suckers to gouge the eyes out of its mindless worshippers , turning them into itss blind, mute servitors.

*Note= This character is introduced in Clark Ashton Smith's novel "The Dweller in the Gulf" with the same epitheth. The name here proposed is mine, a Cthulhu Mythos original contribution.

ive read the story and the description on wikipedia is wrong, the proboscises come from its mouth, but it also has a weird double tail...

Right. Just think Wikipedia stated that Othuum was a four-legged cyclops, instead it is a gorgon-like marine horror.

even Cthulhu, but to be fair, how could they described the unspeakable indescribably horrors of the mythos

I also remember of Zathog. That was the wildest creation. They stated it was a purple-orange humanoid with antelope antlers and a proboscis with a glowing green aura.

WTH? That's Fake! It's a swirling dark vortex!

I know. It's mentioned by James Ambuehl as the Lizard God and nothing else. It's tantalizing. :p

I have tried to describe it in a story.

According to Clark Ashton Smith it lived on Mars and was worshipped by the extinct race of the Aihais. I assume this may have happened at the very beginning of Mars' history, since Mars is currently dry for the most...

Oh yes ^^ That´s true ^^ maybe the observed anomalies on Mars surface could be related to them? ;)

It looks great ^_^
But I can help but feel that it's triangular head looks like the beak of a Graboid from the Tremors movies.
Overall, still a great picture ;)

*gasp* IT'S MY FAVORITE ONE! How did you know?

Also, the twin bell eye removers come out of it's mouth. The description on Wikipedia got that part confused *snicker*

The head looks like a mix between a placoderm and a phorusrhacid. It's adorable, just like how DitG is SUPPOSED to be.

DitG is best GOO. Look into your heart, you know this to be true!

Amazing concept! the story and the creature design!
I think the black and white totally fits your setting.
The blurriness kinda hurts my eyes though.

The only thing monstrous about Twilight is that it is so popular!

Gouging the eyes of it's brainless acolytes is a very upsetting idea! I like it!:XD:

Twilight isn't popular. Everybody mocks it.
It is apparently.

Everybody I ask about just answer either "What is this?" or straightly "It sucks". So... ;)
